“Every happy memory created in childhood is a treasure of time.”
Isn’t childhood a wonderful time? When you look back at yours, you’re bound to have many different memories from those days. Hopefully, you can recall far more enjoyable memories than unpleasant ones.
Childhood memories are precious since, in a way, they represent that phase in your life when everything was new, you had a greater sense of curiosity, you were more willing to discover things, and for the most part, mistakes you made were likely fairly benign. It was truly a time filled with countless “wow” moments, in contrast to those “can’t do this” and “I know better” moments that can plague us as adults.
For me the most important relationship which I share with my family and the second-most is friendship.
I paint my childhood’s memories. Though I miss out the kinship of sisterhood. In the absence of that relationship, I imagine how it would be to have a sister. My longing for her comes through my paintings. I tend to find a sisterhood in my friends, so my portrayals are around friendships as well. In my earlier days, my paintings were around motherhood and a relationship between siblings. After I become a mother, I started integrating my relationship with my child through the paintings. I have tried to show in my paintings about my childhood and the relationships of my friends. As the time passed, the relationship changed, after becoming a mother, I made some pictures of the child and liked to paint some of my childhood. Mostly I like to work in relation to my picture. Brother, sister, friend, mother and finally myself. I prefer to display beautifully, not very beautifully, without showing too much jewellery in the figure of my painting. Trying to show childhood from simplicity itself. In my painting, everything else has been expanded, showing more relation. I like to promote simplification apart from outward beauty.
This is how to like to portray me and the loved ones.
